It's that time of year (to stand in line while awkwardly holding a cup of your urine sample)!

All reappointing ALTs *must* take the health exam, though ALTs who are not reappointing can choose whether or not to take it.
Your health check forms will arrive via school mail in a light green envelope with an English translation attached. The English translation is just for your reference; you **MUST** fill out the original Japanese forms in pencil (no pens!) as described on back of the form, and then take them with you to your health exam.

Please be sure to read through the "2018 Annual Health Examination" pdf for information about the health checks (where and when you can take them, what kind of tests are involved, and more). ***If you decide to take your exam at city hall, make sure to read the last few pages of the document in order to find the correct entrance!!***

If some of the information at the top of your health exam form is incorrect, (such as the spelling of your name or your birthday), please do a double strike-through and correct the information by hand. On the day of your exam, be sure to call the nurses' attention to the mistake and show them the correct information. PLEASE NOTE that your age is given as of March 31st, 2019, not as of today. You may be recorded as one year older than you currently are because of this, and it is not a mistake unless your birth date is recorded incorrectly.

ALSO: The later in the year it gets, the more crowded the exams will be (everyone procrastinates, including government employees), so if your schedule allows, please try to go earlier rather than later. ALTs will receive 1/2 day special leave to take the health exam. As always, be sure to
check with your school regarding scheduling and ensure that they know when you are planning to take the health exam.

Please login, then go to the "Work" tab for the documents. (Or check your email. :) )

Hello everyone,

Higashi Ochiai ES is seeking a second ALT to help with a teacher training event on Monday, August 27th from 9:30 to 11:45am. We have already been able to recruit one person, and they would like two.

According to the request I got, the DS will include the following:

- school English lesson
- explanation of the Let's Try and We Can books
- breaking into two teams to workshop lesson plans
- small talk practice

The stated goals are 1) to increase the Japanese teachers' contact with English in order to help them "skill up", and 2) to help them prepare some lesson plans/materials that they can use in 2nd semester.

I don't think ALTs would need to prepare anything.

Please let me know if you are available and interested, and as always don't forget to check with your school staff first. Thank you!

Kobe Port Tower t-shirt contest winner

Congratulations, Daniel R.! Your t-shirt design has won the hearts of over 2/3 of the Kobe JET community that voted!

Just like last time, we'll be ordering t-shirts, polo shirts, and hoodies. Please note that due to the nature of screenprinting costs, the more orders we have the less each person has to pay. At a rough estimate, t-shirts will be under 2,000 yen, polo shirts will round out to about 2,000 yen, and hoodies will likely run for 3,300 yen. **Please note that XXL and XXXL sizes will be slightly more expensive.** We will contact you with a definite price once all orders are in.

Here are examples of what the t-shirts will look like. The polo shirts and hoodies will have this design on the back instead. The font has red outline added to it to help it stand out against dark colors.

Hello everyone!

It's that time of year again and I'm recruiting ALTs to come to Ibukihigashi's (Thursday, July 12th) and Ibukinishi's (Thursday, July 19th) English Camps. Both days are full day shuccho and there is no prep on your part.

As you all know, these events require many ALTs to occur (20+) and both days are woefully short on hands at this point. Please check with your schools in the next two weeks if you can attend. After that it's the same deal as last year; if I don't hear from you, you might just receive a call from me at your school ;-)

I hope to hear from you all soon, and wish you have a lovely day!

Hi all,

You don't have to RSVP by Google invite if you've already or are planning to RSVP by Facebook.

The email is mostly so that everyone has access to the event even if they don't use Facebook.

If you know of anyone who is a current JET and who still hasn't received this information but would like to come, please let me know so that I can make a note of it.

Good afternoon everyone, hope your week is going well.

Uozaki Elementary School will be hosting a teacher training event from 9:00-12:00 on Tuesday, August 28th, and they are seeking ten ALT participants. Technically the event is a DS, but rather than interacting with students, you would be helping teachers make lesson plans and practice their own English communication skills. The DS is being held at an ES, but the contents of the lesson plans will be geared toward JHS-level classes.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating, and as always be sure to check with your OTE(s) and kyoto-sensei(s) before committing. Thank you as always for your hard work!

Sakura Pedals
Created by Kobe JET on Tue, 03/27/2018 - 17:10

Hello everyone,

It is that time of year again. Sakura pedals are soon to be in the air which means it is time for Spring Seminars!

Spring Seminars is a wonderful chance to learn many things from fellow Kobe ALTs with a range of topics, with a range of topics some of which are not normally discussed at usual events like SDC!

The deadline for signing up is next Tuesday, April 3, by 12 noon via an email to either Nicole or myself. Please note that attendance to this event is not compulsory, but definitely recommended.

For further information on the event in the seminars that will be running on the day, please check the PDF attached. If you have any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hope you all have a lovely week.

Best wishes,
