Now with ChatGPT, you can translate your song lyrics into both literal and meaningful translations for your classes to understand and sing along with your favorite tunes.
To add a song lesson, follow these simple steps:
- Create a new song
- Complete the General and Media fields
- Go to the Lyrics tab
- Add an appropriate Table Caption - for example:
- Lyrics, original and translated, for the song "Strong", by One Direction
- You may find many lyrics in English at several online sources, including https://www.azlyrics.com/a.html.
- Go to https://chat.openai.com
- Note: you will need to create a free account to begin. #easyandworthit
Enter a prompt for translating lyrics. Here is a good example you can use:
Please provide a table output for the following song lyrics. Each line is a new row in the table, and line spaces should show as "..." in order to separate verses.
Please then also provide the output in a downloadable csv file, making sure to account for existing commas.
Three columns.
Column 1 will be the original lyrics in English (posted below).
Column 2 will be a direct, literal, and as close to a word-for-word translation as possible. The goal for column 2 will be providing literal translations, rather than focusing on the overall context or deeper meanings of the lyrics.
Column 3 will provide the contextual, meaningful translation into Japanese, attempting to convey the emotion and context for the lyrics.
If the literal and meaningful translations (Columns 2 and 3) are exactly the same, then please leave the literal translation (Column 2) blank.
