Translating Content Guide

Content and taxonomies have AI-assisted translation enabled.

Before you begin, please review ALL steps below. Some of them may be obvious, but ensuring you understand the full, ideal process beforehand will help avoid mistakes and ensure we create the best, useful lessons and other content possible for our multilingual and multicultural education audience.

In general, these are the steps to follow when translating:

  1. Confirm you have sufficient language (Japanese or English) confidence and ability to adequately review AI-generated translations.
  2. Navigate to the Translations page to begin.
  3. Filter by the Content type you wish to translate ("Lesson" by default).
  4. Open the content to review the original.
    Note: Do NOT translate before reviewing first.
  5. Edit the original to make any necessary or helpful updates if the content is outdated or improperly formatted, including:
    • Correct use of:
      • Numbering and bullets (using the formatted bullet option in the editor)
      • Headings (H2, H3, paragraph, etc.)
      • Unnecessary or missing formatting - bold, italic, colors, etc.
      • Miscellanous issue - spelling, spacing, extra lines, etc.

    • Easy to comprehend - some lessons may need to be updated to make them easier for Japanese/English teachers to understand and adapt for their classrooms. Some aspects to check include:
      • Clear, concise language - description and instructions
      • Cultural references that may be confusing
    • If missing, please add a fun, engaging image. These can be either:
  6. Once the original is updated, click the "Translate" link for the content on the Translations page.
  7. Thoroughly review the AI-generated translation to ensure it is correct, complete, easy to understand, and has appropriate formatting.
