Translating Schools

There are quite a few schools that still need to be translated. Currently the count sits at only 48 of 265 have been completely translated.

The process to translate schools is slightly more complicated than other content like lessons, songs, or information - due to the need to add missing directions and an existing issue with addresses not correctly auto-translating.

The following are the current steps to translate schools.

Initial

1. Go to the Content Translation jobs page.
2. Filter by schools.

3. Choose a school to translate and first click on the normal school link.

4. On the school page, copy the current address in English. This is what we will feed into ChatGPT.

Directions from Sannomiya Station to Kobe Shiritsu Seishin Junior High School

1. From Sannomiya Station (三宮駅)
 a. Take the Kobe Municipal Subway Seishin-Yamate Line (神戸市営地下鉄西神山手線) bound for Seishin-chuo (西神中央).
 b. Get off at Seishin-chuo Station (西神中央駅). The ride takes approximately 25 minutes.

 a. Transfer to the Kobe City Bus (神戸市バス) bound for Takenodai (竹の台).

You can change the default station from Sannomiya if you are closer to a different city.

After the initial prompt, you can just paste the school's address to generate the same information.

Update original (English)

1. Open Google and paste the kanji for the school in the search.

2. Click "Images".

3. Save one or two appropriate images for the school, using the name of the school.

4. Upload the school pictures as Images under the Media tab.

5. Add the new directions from ChatGPT to Directions under the Contact tab.
   Note: make sure the directions are formatted as number lists and not bullets.

6. Save the changes and check to verify.

Translate (into Japanese)

1. Go to the Translate tab for the school and click Translate using ChatGPT.

2. After the translation is generated, click to Edit the new translation.

3. Ensure the kanji, English, and furigana are correct on the General tab.

4. On the Contact tab, copy and paste the (Japanese) translated address.

   This is usually easiest by:

   1. Copying the full translated address into the Street address.
   2. Cutting/Pasting the Postal code.

   3. Cutting/Pasting the City - this will be immediately after the Prefecture. Note: the prefecture should already be correct, unless the schools is outside of Hyogo prefecture.

   4. Cut/Paste the second part of the address to the next line. There will be a small space between them, usually after 番.

5. Save the changes and check to verify.
