Ceremony

Japanese schools hold many ceremonies throughout the year:

  • Shigyoushiki (始業式) - opening ceremony, to mark the beginning of a school semester
  • Shuugyoushiki (終業式) - closing ceremony, to mark the end of a school semester
  • Nyuugakushiki (入学式) - entrance ceremony for new students entering their first year at a given school
  • Sotsugyoushiki (卒業式) - graduation ceremony for students who have completed school
    • for Kindergarten (幼稚園), this is called Sotsuenshiki (卒園式)
