3rd and 4th Grade End of Year Books

Objective
Create a book that reviews all the material covered in the previous lessons

INTRODUCTION

These books are Colleen’s idea!

For the last lesson of the year, gather together all the material you have covered and turn it into a book so it can be easily reviewed.

BEFORE CLASS

To make the books, dedicate one or more pages to each topic you covered.  I usually included a copy of the flashcard picture and the English word.  I also decided to include the katakana pronunciation for the words because at 3 and 4-nen students are not expected to be able to read the English, though of course every class has students who can.

Each book can take several hours to make, and then a few more to print and fold them all, so it is a good idea to start them early.

IN CLASS

During the last lesson of the year you can use this book as you like.  For example, you can structure the whole lesson using the books for review, or give them out in the last 10–15 minutes to go over with the students, then allow them the opportunity to color.
